Kingston’s favourite cover band http://www.runforcoverlive.com have been operating in the area for nearly 20 years playing live floor-fillers spanning disco, Britpop, rock and dance. Doors open at 6pm for DJ Sophie who will be playing a mix of funky electronic beats, the band starts at 6.30pm.
All Saints has established itself as a premier pop music venue, thanks in part to Kingston’s renowned Banquet Records. With performances from artists like Hozier and Killer Mike, it is a dynamic hub for live music, keeping the local scene thriving.
Paul Thomas from Run For Cover said- “We always try to support community causes when we can and to be asked to play this magnificent 700 capacity venue is a great honour. It’s a bit daunting but we can’t wait to see how tunes from the likes of Oasis, Blur, The Killers, Elbow and Black Eyed Peas sound in its wonderful nave. We met in Kingston and feel proud to be able to represent our home town.”
The Kingston connections don’t stop there with band members and their partners being alumni from Kingston University- an institution Run For Cover marked by playing the last ever gig at Penrhyn Road bar- and running their businesses from Kingston locations.
In recent years the band have discovered that their 90s repertoire in particular is as popular with their teenage and student offspring as it is with their hardcore fanbase of friends, followers and local parents.
